What If I Have to Cancel My Airbnb Trip due to COVID-19

Airbnb’s expanded cancellation policy comes as the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a global pandemic. Thanks to Airbnb's extenuating circumstances policy, it is safe to still make booking for your trip. Click to book places in KL.

Guests can now cancel reservations and are entitled to a 100% refund via Airbnb’s extenuating circumstances claim regardless of the host’s cancellation policy.

If a reservation that falls under Airbnb’s extenuating circumstances policy is cancelled by a guest:

  • The guest will get a full refund

  • Hosts won’t incur any cancellation fees

  • Airbnb will refund all fees

  • Hosts can accept new reservations for those dates

  • Superhost status will not be affected

If the guests cancel their booking through this policy, Airbnb will notify the host and automatically unblock the dates on calendar so that hosts can welcome other guests. Airbnb will not collect any fees for the cancelled booking too.

If you are traveling from a severely impacted area of COVID-19:

Please be reminded that your Airbnb reservation can be cancelled by the host. Click to read more about how a host can cancel the reservation and what guest will receive as compensation.

According to Airbnb’s extenuating circumstances policy, reservations made on or before March 14, 2020 for stays and Airbnb Experiences, with a check-in date between March 14, 2020 and April 14, 2020, may be cancelled before check-in.
